ABOUT ABOUT

Adrian Loving, author and noted contemporary art and music historian; visual artist and DJ/ Entrepreneur, joins our next In The Lab to explore his book Fade2Grey about social, economic, and racial barriers in education and his own experience in self publishing.

The education system in America lacks tools to prepare students of color with the creative, economic, and societal knowledge to advance their passions. By stifling the arts, music, and culture of youth (specifically those of color) within the education system, innovation and creative entrepreneurship are increasingly challenged.

Topics will include:

  • The inequality of private/public schools
  • Reimagining the education model through creating your own educational tools, using entrepreneurship, and building social networks
  • Exclusionary practices of the education system and resulting outcomes
  • Using the arts and social justice to teach diversity, equity, and inclusion in schools
  • Encouraging Students and Teachers to explore their creative passions - beyond the standardization of education systems
  • Creating teaching tools to address LGBTQ communities, race, identity, and the arts in American Education
  • Barriers entrepreneurs of color face in pursuit of their goals

IF Lab, located in Kensington, provides the underserved entrepreneur with professional incubation and bridges to resources, institutions, language and people. Because of the current and forecasted economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, entrepreneurs + existing small business owners are facing unprecedented challenges. We’re talking candidly about what those challenges look like in Philadelphia, how failed policies have exacerbated issues for entrepreneurs and people of color, and brainstorm innovative ways to push forward.

IF Lab Presents ‘In The Lab', is a series of digital conversations for Philadelphia minority entrepreneurs and invested industry professionals. Offering intimate, interactive, non-academic colloquiums with (inter)national experts in a variety of fields. The “In the Lab,” series is hosted by Little Giant Creative.
