Black women have historically driven the American political agenda as organizers and as voters. Now, an increasing number are leading the biggest cities in the United States. A record number of Black women have won election to Congress and are holding powerful municipal positions. The political climate is evolving and Black women are on the front lines fighting against structural and cultural issues of racism, sexism and other contemporary issues in the U.S. including:
- Highest risk of maternal + infant mortality
- Disproportionately impacted by COVID
- Frontlines of essential jobs and protests
In collaboration with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA), join us for a frank discussion with Philadelphia leaders at the forefront of these issues and the lived experience to explore the money trail and how cities can address the systemic racism and policies that have largely ignored Black women and their significant burdens and contributions.
