“IF Lab Presents: In the Lab”, hosts respected entrepreneur, author, and investor, Rey Ramsey whose forward-thinking approach and experience in multi-sector human advancement and real estate development ventures gives insight to the economic paradigm that impacts minorities. On May 20, we will be discussing critical issues of race and ethnicity, societal challenges including housing and jobs, and the overarching economic barriers embedded in Black and Brown communities.
Join us for a frank discussion around the societal and economic barriers present in Black and Brown communities and how to forge solutions to issues including:
- Undeveloped affordable housing programs and the displacement of Black and Brown families
- Economic inequities affecting job opportunities and small businesses
- Unequal distribution of financial resources, support and investment opportunities
Rey Ramsey is a Managing Director at Lafayette Square and Chairman of the LS Foundation. He also serves as founder & CEO of Centri Tech. He has devoted his career to building and leading social enterprises with a particular emphasis on housing equity and expanding access to technology in low-income communities. After serving as Oregon‘s Director of Housing and Community Services, Mr. Ramsey held successive positions as President and COO of Enterprise Community Partners, Chairman of Habitat for Humanity International; and founding CEO and Chairman of One Economy Corporation, a nonprofit provider of internet services to low-income homes.
IF Lab, located in Kensington, provides the underserved entrepreneur with professional incubation and bridges to resources, institutions, language and people. Because of the current and forecasted economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, entrepreneurs + existing small business owners are facing unprecedented challenges. We’re talking candidly about what those challenges look like in Philadelphia, how failed policies have exacerbated issues for entrepreneurs and people of color, and brainstorm innovative ways to push forward.
